Internet Today and Tomorrow
Introduction
The Internet has become the medium for information distribution since the television, thanks to the ease of use associated with the World Wide Web. As technology gets easier to comprehend, more consumers venture to experiment in the new arena.
Just like television, the World Wide Web is forcing us to take notice. While it took Disney, CNN, ESPN, and QVC decades to conquer the television market, it has taken them less than five years to conquer the Web. And they are not alone in recognizing its power. What the web will be and how it will end up is unknown. What can be said, however, is that it's here to stay. Now given this premise, its time to take a look at how to best use it.
The Web
Successful web sites can provide web benefits ranging from increased sales, market expansion, image enhancement, increased customer satisfaction, cost savings, and faster, cheaper product and information distribution. When the Web first began, people initially used it to share information among various work groups in their schools and companies. Today we can find businesses that are 100% web-based and sites that are taking a more interactive, service-oriented approach. This change has happened as a result of basic supply and demand. As the Web continues to mature new opportunities will arise. These new opportunities will result in consumers using the Web to experience more and more. When your target audience (customers) looks for your product, service or information on the Web, will you be there?
